Putting the 'Fun' in Fundraising

September was a busy month in Max Fordham's Community Engagement Team, raising funds for our designated charity organisations.

Three of our team - Pria Lad, Katie Clemence and Patricia Steven - helped lead the various initiatives. Here, Pria provides an update on the cycling fun.

''The Bike Ride saw 28 members of the practice gather in London on a cold September morning in aid of the University College Hospital Cancer Fund. The attire was varied but the spirits were high. After many detours, some snacks and a hearty pub lunch, the group completed their 60 mile bike ride to our office in Cambridge.

Initially we set a target of £2,500. Currently that total sits at just over £4,000, which made the torrential rain at the end well worth enduring.

The event was not only a success in raising money for charity, it also enabled people in the practice to meet-up and encouraged those who aren’t normally into cycling to jump on a bike. Win/win!''

Aside from raising money for the University College Hospital Cancer Fund, some of the Max Fordham team also volunteered to assist at the hospital. Patricia Steven reports on a successful day.

''The UCH radiology department has a playroom for kids with cancer who are receiving treatment at the hospital. It's full of toys and games that all need a good clean on a fairly regular basis. So a group of Fordhamites went into the basement at UCH, got out the scrubbing brushes, and cleaned toys for the day.

We also learned how UCH is using play to make visiting the hospital a more positive experience. The play staff were certainly thankful for our help, as they brought us box after box of toys to be cleaned. It's a task they would otherwise have to do themselves, diverting their time away from looking after the kids.''

Finally, to the debut performance of our in-house band, Public M+E, at the world famous Construction Rocks event in London.
