JOEL GUSTAFSSON CROWNED CDCA YOUNG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

4 April 2018

Joel Gustafsson was crowned 'Young Professional of the Year' at last month's Cambridge Design and Construction Awards.

The prize acknowledges and rewards stand-out achievement by a young professional for their work in Cambridge's construction industry.

"I've worked in Max Fordham's Cambridge office for 10 years and have been involved in lots of interesting and impressive projects in this city. And the best thing about winning is that it means I'm still recognised as 'young'!", Joel exclaimed.

Joel moved to Cambridge in 2004 to complete a PhD in Physical Atmospheric Chemistry. He joined Max Fordham in 2008, becoming a Partner in 2012. He is now a Project Leader in Max Fordham's Cambridge Office and has an impressive portfolio of work including Trinity College New Court, Girton College Ash Court, the masterplan for the Department of Engineering's move to West Cambridge, and the Civil Engineering Building, the first project in the implementation of this masterplan.

His 4 year self-build project, The Garage designed by Ashworth Parkes Architects, also won the award for 'Best New Building under £2 million'. He would like to point out that it came in considerably below this threshold.
