Sunshine on a Cloudy Day
23 February 2015
The days are getting longer but summer still feels like a long way away.
So a gloomy February evening in London was the perfect time for a burst of sunshine to relieve the symptoms of S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder). And there was no need to head to the continent - just to Shoreditch.
The Protein Gallery in London played host to Studio C&C's release of their 'S.A.D. Journal', a kaleadoscopic burst of colour on the printed page. As part of the launch Max Fordham engineers Hareth Pochee and John Gunstone created 'S.A.D. SKY', a lighting installation with a sunny twist.
Using daylight data captured from sun-soaked summer days, S.A.D. SKY condensed a full days worth of sunshine into three hours. Guests were stimulated by illumination influenced by, and incorporating, the qualities of real daylight.
A short, time-lapse film of the installation will be on our website soon. Watch this space - and don't look directly into the sun.
