And the show curtain lifts in Glasgow

18 December 2014

Birthplace of the modern day pantomime and Scottish television, the Theatre Royal Glasgow has reopened its door.

Boasting an expansive roof terrace, cafe, large foyer and impressive spiral staircase, the refurbishment of the 147 year old building makes for a more comfortable experience for theatre goers. Designed with Page/ Park Architects, Max Fordham worked to keep the Theatre operational as much as possible during construction, while also significantly altering and improving the ventilation system.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Scottish Government, Creative Scotland and Glasgow City Council, the refurbishment ensures a vibrant future for the venue. With an already full scedule, the theatre will also house a new tapestry, 'Butterfly',  from the UK's oldest tapestry studio Dovecot Studios and one of Scotland's finest painters, Alison Watt in early 2015.
