Ben Caulton
BEng MInstET
Engineer
Ben joined Max Fordham LLP after graduating in Electrical Engineering at Leeds University in 2001.
Ben initially worked on the refurbishment of the Easter House Cultural Campus, which won the 'Best Public Building' and 'Best Building' at the Scottish Design Awards in 2007. Work he has recently done on listed buildings includes working as project engineer on the refurbishment of grade 1/2* listed Whitechapel Art Gallery and grade 2* listed Stiffkey Old Hall.
Working as project engineer on Stiffkey Old Hall involved the design and installation of modern building servicing into a 15th century hall. Key design decisions included relocation of the heating plant to a remote annexe building to reduce the fire load on the historic structure and borehole water extraction for the Elizabethan garden. Ben is currently working on the design of services to three new schools.
Since 2003 Ben has been a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. He has also restored a 17th Century grade 2 listed farm house, Victorian farm workers cottage and classic car in his spare time.
