Innes graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 2000 and spent six months at Max Fordham LLP, before moving into the field of film and TV music composition. He rejoined the practice in 2002, was made a partner in 2006 and gained Chartership with the Engineering Council in 2009.
Working initially on the mechanical systems in the Royal Festival Hall Auditorium (including a research project into displacement ventilation), Innes gained further experience with the lighting and communications for the V&A Museum of Childhood and electrical work on the Royal Hall, Harrogate. He was project engineer for the new music centre at the Purcell School of Music, the new Hull Truck Theatre, which includes two naturally ventilated auditoria and ground-source cooling, and a large private house supplied with 50% renewable energy.
Innes completed the Institute of Acoustics Diploma course in 2005 with a special commendation - and has provided acoustic advice on a variety of projects, gaining corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics in 2007. Work includes: teaching environments for, Hampstead, Oundle and Felsted schools; M&E acoustics for the Royal Festival Hall Auditorium and Barbican Concert Hall. Outside of the practice Innes continues to compose and produce film soundtracks.
