BP Upstream Learning Centre

BP Upstream Learning Centre

The BP Upstream Learning Centre is the company's first UK centre dedicated to development and training.

Located within the BP International Centre for Business and Technology in Sunbury-upon-Thames, the Learning Centre is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, in-house training with distance learning facilities for BP staff in the UK and overseas.

As well as providing the mechanical and electrical engineering, lighting and acoustic design, Max Fordham conducted day-lighting and solar shading studies to maximise the availability of natural light and pleasing views. These studies also ensured appropriate luminance and contrast for projection screens and video recording was achieved.

Our environmental strategy included the use of heat recovery from the ICT server rooms to augment an air heating system in the cooler months. The project received a BREEAM 'Very Good' Rating under the BREEAM Bespoke 2008 scheme.
