Greening existing buildings
If we are to make substantial carbon reductions to meet agreed targets, focussing on new build is not going to be enough. We need to address our existing buildings and energy efficient refurbishment enables us to de-carbonise the existing building stock. There are also strong commercial drivers for building re-use.
We carry out due diligence surveys to include a detailed inspections of demised floors and common areas. This includes a review of both the existing building fabric and the Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health services. We provide commentary on the flexibility of existing systems and the ability of these to be sub-divided/altered to suit a clients future fit out scheme. Our proposals can include comment on existing and future energy performance.
We set out sustainable refurbishment options for upgrading the building fabric to use passive measures where sensible and to meet current regulations together with upgrading M&E installations to improve their operation and efficiency. Once agreed, these are developed into full specifications for refurbishment.
