Working closely with all the members of a design team, we facilitate workshops to help define a project’s sustainability aspirations and to develop the brief.

From the outset we engage collaboratively with the client and relevant stakeholders, and advocate design charettes to share expertise. We promote the benefits of integrated design and the cross-fertilisation that it brings.

Time spent in the beginning of a project, to fully understand and unpack the brief, pays dividends. It brings clarity and realism to both the sustainability vision and the ensuing sustainability strategy for a project.

We study the site, its networks and its metabolism to understand the uniqueness of the development plot and its relationship with its neighbours.

We specialise in the relationship of built form to the environment, particularly to ambient conditions, waste, water flows and material impacts. Through computational modelling and analysis we are able to offer valuable design advice, including site planning for day-lighting and microclimate, as well as on climate change mitigation and adaption strategies.

We can assist in the site selection process. By uncovering the inherent potentials or constraints of a site, we can help clients assess the most appropriate site for their needs.

We have written sustainability design guides for Local Authorities as well as global corporations and for clients on specific masterplans. We are able to prepare sustainability design guidance manuals for both lay and specialist readers, communicating design targets, performance criteria and sustainability strategies in an easy to access manner.
