Belle Vue is shortlisted for AJ100 Building of the Year 2021

15 June 2021

Belle Vue, a holistic retirement living scheme in Hampstead, north London, has been shortlisted for the AJ 100 Building of the Year 2021 Award.

The Building of the Year category is awarded to a building completed in 2020 that is judged exemplary in its design – functionally, materially and spatially – and in its delivery and performance. In particular, it should demonstrate a carefully considered approach to sustainability, client satisfaction, quality of user experience, and contribution to its wider environment.

Today, it was announced that Belle Vue made it on the shortlist for the coveted award. Working alongside AJ100 newcomer Morris + Company, we provided M&E Engineeering, Acoustics and Environmental Assessment for this holistic retirement living scheme for Pegasus Life in Hampstead, north London. Located in the former Bartram's Convent in Hampstead, North London, this project of 59 self-contained, assisted-living apartments was developed on a tight and complex site.

We designed the building services strategy to include air-source heat pumps with comfort cooling and centralised domestic hot water production using Combined Heat & Power (CHP). The low-energy design also includes strong passive design features and photovoltaic panels to achieve a BREEAM Multi-Residential rating of 'Excellent'.

The winner is chosen by a judging panel and be announced in September at the AJ100 Festival.
