Cambridge’s best new building is Trinity Hall Wychfield

29 March 2011

Trinity Hall Wychfield won the David Urwin Award, recognising it as the Best New Building in Cambridge in five years by the Cambridge City Council.

The judges were impressed with the buildings’ design, materials used and landscaping of the grounds, which they felt all contribute to the scheme's success.

Max Fordham are pleased to be part of the design team, having helped design and deliver the efficient, low energy buildings, which includes 150 undergraduate rooms, 11 graduate flats, study rooms, computer rooms, a greenhouse and a porter’s lodge.

The buildings are carefully orientated to be abundantly daylit and include high levels of insulation and heat recovery to the ventilation systems, to ensure minimal heat loss. Rainwater is also stored for irrigation of the extensive gardens.
