Double win at the Cambridge Design and Construction Awards

22 March 2021

Two of our projects - Cranmer Road Student Accommodation at Kings College and The Old Granary and Counting House at Darwin College - have each won a pair of awards at the Cambridge Design and Construction Awards (CDCAs)!

Cambridge is growing and has once again celebrated recent high quality developments that have been built in the city with the Cambridge Design and Construction Awards (CDCAs).

Sponsored by the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry (CFCI), the Cambridge City Council have held design awards annually since 1988.

Apart from the six main award categories, three additional ones are judged by experts in their field appointed by the CFCI.

It's great to see that two of our projects have not only been recognised in one of the main categories:

  •  The Old Granary and Counting House at Darwin College, for which we provided M&E Engineering and Acoustics, has won Best Building: Conservation, alteration or extension (over £2m construction)
  • Cranmer Road Student Accommodation at Kings College, for which  we provided M&E Engineering, Acoustics, Building Physics & Modelling and Sustainability Consultancy, has won Best New Building (over £2m construction)

... but have also been rewarded with a special award:

"We're delighted to have been part of the teams for both these projects. The buildings reflect both the craft and quality common in Cambridge, and an exciting change, with King's College spearheading the adoption of Passivhaus in Cambridge, which is now being taken up by a number of other colleges." - Gwilym Still, Principal Engineer at Max Fordham LLP
