Southbank Centre Lighting Scheme Shortlisted for the Lux Awards

21 August 2018

The Southbank Centre has been shortlisted in the 'Hospitality, Leisure and Faith Lighting' category at the Lux Awards.

Max Fordham’s Light+Air team worked with architects FeildenCleggBradleyStudio to complete the first set of major building services renovations to the site, since its opening in 1967. As well as building services, the works included installation of new architectural, house and show lighting to all of the main spaces.

Our lighting designs included: elegant and efficient LED updates to the historic lighting systems in Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Rooms; the reintroduction of daylight in the Hayward Gallery through the pyramid rooflights; LED colour change lighting in the geometric features within the foyer; and daylight accompanied by a bespoke artificial lighting scheme in the new Artists' Entrance.

The Lux Awards are one of the most prestigious lighting design awards in the UK and are judged by a panel of renowned engineers, lighting consultants and magazine editors.

The awards ceremony will take place at the InterContinental London-O2 and the shortlist winners will be announced on 15th November.
