“Day of Climate Action”, 20th September 2019
12 September 2019
On 20th September, to tie in with the first day of the Global Climate Strike, we are implementing a "Day of Climate Action" across our whole practice.
In all of our Max Fordham offices we will be hosting presentations, workshops and tasks on the theme of “positive action to reduce global carbon emissions and delivering net zero carbon buildings”.
The practice is urging all Partners and employees to get involved in our “Day of Climate Action”, therefore a large part of our workforce will be unavailable for their regular meetings and tasks. We have and will continue to liaise with our clients and collaborators in advance of the day.
An Open Invite
On the day, our engineers will also be available to discuss options and ideas free of charge on how you could achieve zero carbon buildings. This could be related to a project on the drawing board or an existing building in operation – for example your own home or office.
We would like this to be a fun, collaborative process that not only considers the technical challenges, but also the practical and financial issues that might make achieving zero carbon difficult.
If you'd like some free options and ideas relating to achieving zero carbon, or would like to know more, please get in contact.
About The Global Climate Strike
The 20th September is the first day of the Global Climate Strike. The strike intends to raise further awareness of the Climate and Biodiversity Emergency and encourage urgent decisions and actions to be made at the UN’s Climate Emergency Summit on 23rd September. The Global Climate Strike is supported by the UK Green Building Council, the RIBA, Ashden and many other organisations and institutions relating to the built environment. You can find out more information about it here.
MF: Net Zero
For over 50 years Max Fordham have been leading the industry in terms of sustainable, low energy and low carbon design and we, as a practice, take our commitment to tackling the climate and biodiversity emergency very seriously. We were immediate in voicing our support of ‘Architect’s Declare’ and were one of the first signatories when Building Services Engineers followed suit. But what is needed now, more than ever, is to turn words into actions.
MF: Net Zero is our task group that is responsible for turning our own words and commitments into actions. You can read more about what we are doing to tackle the climate emergency on our MF: Net Zero page.
