I find nothing more stimulating than challenging problems. They represent opportunities for lateral thinking and in engineering allow me to deliver buildings that surprise and are a joy for the client.
While my experience has centred on large public buildings, I’ve covered a broad and satisfying range of projects. This spans delivering the award-winning John Hope Gateway Building to refurbishing historic and listed theatres, museums, galleries and concert halls to new build constructions.
Within any given project team, I bring detailed coordination and integration to the design of the internal environment. My approach is to create means by which natural elements are harnessed and technology is minimised.
This low-energy, holistic approach has been employed in the most successful and satisfying buildings I have been part of. In fact, it is the challenge of resolving the integration of highly serviced technical elements which I still find exciting after 25 years as a designer.
