This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical or M&E engineer with previous design experience in an established engineering practice who is looking to expand their experience. To produce the highest quality and most innovative engineering, we need people who can think both creatively and practically.

Right now, we are looking for experienced mechanical or building services engineers with a detailed understanding of HVAC design. You will be able to see and influence the big picture:  what clients and our society needs; what the climate emergency demands and the role of design in this;  and how we will communicate this clearly with our clients and others - as part of an expert construction team.  The test of this is the quality of the building we deliver to the users and the strength of the role we play in achieving this.

If you are successful, you will work on a wide range of projects and sectors, which all require a thoughtful and rigorous approach to design and delivery. You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience within a talented team and help support the technical development of graduates who come from a broad range of educational backgrounds.  Based in our Cambridge Office, you will enjoy contributing to the process of collaborative working, from developing a well thought-out brief to delivering a building or project that exceeds the client’s expectations.

You will be inspired by beautiful engineering design.  As an engineer who is passionate about delivering beautifully engineered low-energy buildings that work, you will be able to generate and develop your own ideas, as you handle a wide range of technical issues.

With a detailed understanding of HVAC system design, you will be motivated and capable of working well under some pressure.  You will have a strong desire to work collaboratively with others; contribute positively to the team and practice and demonstrate your ability to prioritise a varied workload.

This role requires good people management skills and experience of leading small groups of engineers. You will be able to take primary responsibility for smaller projects or lead the mechanical design on mid-size or larger projects, ideally across different sectors.

Holding a relevant degree qualification, you are likely to be chartered or working towards chartered status and will have a sound understanding of building services system design. You will also be proficient in the use of Revit.

  • Excellent growth opportunities for your personal and career development in a knowledge driven environment
  • Mentored support towards professional accreditation
  • Interesting and technically challenging projects
  • An inclusive culture and cooperative environment
  • Opportunities for involvement in business-running activities
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Employee bonus
  • Future opportunities for Partnership
  • Six weeks holiday (including Bank holidays)
  • Max Fordham Pension Scheme
  • Other benefits include generous paid parental leave, sick pay, and treatment pay.
