Our Legal Team sits within a wider central Administration Group and comprises the Legal Director, a Legal Advisor and a Paralegal. Working closely together the Legal Team provide support across the business on a range of legal issues from contract negotiation on our projects to Practice compliance.


Reporting to the Legal Director, the Paralegal will undertake the following key duties:

  • Review, amend and negotiate the terms of our contractual appointments
  • Maintain a Practice-wide overview of the status of contracts on all projects
  • Provide ad hoc advice on contractual matters to our project teams
  • Liaise with Professional Indemnity insurers and update them on relevant matters.
  • Support formal fee recovery proceedings
  • Support the team in ensuring the Practice's compliance with relevant legislation such as GDPR and Anti Bribery requirements
  • Assist other members of the legal team on ad hoc matters in a variety of areas as and when required


In order to carry out this role, it is essential that you can demonstrate fluency in English. This role requires you to be able to read and understand complex technical legal documents and distinguish precisely between fine shades of meaning. You will need to be able to summarise complex specialist principles clearly and concisely to a non-specialist audience, both in writing and in conversation.

The following skills are essential to the success of this important role, so you will need to demonstrate:

  • A solid understanding of contract law, including the formation of contracts
  • A precise eye for detail
  • A creative and pragmatic approach, and the confidence to make decisions
  • Strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work in fast paced environment and manage conflicting demands and deadlines
  • Experience or interest in the construction industry, including an awareness of the Construction Act would be advantageous.

Experience reviewing and negotiating contracts, including formulating alternative wording are also desirable skills.

£32,000 - £37,000 depending on experience
