London

Join us in our mission to transform the built environment through beautiful and sustainable engineering.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and ambitious MEP, mechanical or electrical building services engineer, with at least 10 years’ experience in building services design, who is looking to develop their experience, knowledge and career, with one of the UK’s leading, award-winning MEP engineering practices; a practice that is owned by the people who work there and committed to leading the industry in tackling the challenges posed by the climate and biodiversity crises.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Based in our London office, this role involves working in one of our multi-disciplinary MEP engineering groups, to act as the primary lead on projects across a range of sectors with duties covering all aspects from RIBA stage 0 to 7. Our aim is to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that really work for our clients and are beautifully integrated with the architecture and structure.

Our Principal Engineers assemble and lead project teams which involves overseeing the design, project planning, managing Project Engineers and more junior resource, dealing directly with clients, design team members, contractors and other stakeholders. Principal Engineers will work closely with the Directors who have overall responsibility for Projects, to set the technical agenda and ensure high quality projects are delivered on time and on budget.

In addition to leading projects, Principal Engineers also take responsibility for the overall organisation, performance, welfare, learning and development of the people within their team.

At Max Fordham we are passionate about providing beautifully engineered, low energy buildings, and pride ourselves on providing an open and supportive environment for our employees and partners.

To produce the highest quality and most innovative engineering, we are seeking engineers who can think both creatively and practically, applying a considered and rigorous approach to both design and delivery.

You will be self-motivated, capable of working well under pressure and have strong project management skills.

Good people management skills are essential, as is a strong desire to communicate and work collaboratively with others, both internally and externally.  You will be expected to contribute positively to the team and wider practice, with a demonstrable ability to prioritise a varied workload.

You will be confident in dealing with clients and collaborators and have experience of leading on the planning and delivery of MEP projects, including managing resources, handling a wide range of technical issues, and independently generating and developing ideas.
