Congratulations to Senior Engineer Lidia Guerra on being named the new leader of our International Outreach Group.

For around 20 years, we've been working on philanthropic projects in less economically developed countries around the world, providing engineering expertise on community projects that normally can’t access this kind of assistance.

We often work on education and healthcare buildings, addressing fundamental needs such as water, sanitation, and shelter. Our contributions are generally provided pro bono, supported by funding from the practice and the donation of time from staff.

Lidia has been part of the International Outreach Group since 2017, working on projects such as the expansion of Collège Hampaté Bâ in Niger and the sustainable refurbishment of Yangon Hospital in Myanmar. Now she is taking the reins of leading the programme from Passivhaus Director, Gwilym Still. Congratulations to Lidia and a huge thank you to Gwilym who will still be actively involved in the project.

Lidia said: "The work of the International Outreach Group is important to me because it allows us at Max Fordham to apply our wealth of expertise across various disciplines – from MEP engineering to sustainability and wellbeing – to causes that we care deeply about.

"I'm particularly interested in using our expertise to develop low-energy, low-carbon solutions in regions where challenging climates often make this difficult. Ultimately, we want to deliver work that everyone involved can take pride in, including projects that have the potential to win awards."

"It was seeing some of the international outreach projects featured on the website that tipped it for me to apply for a job at Max Fordham. As a leader, I aim to strengthen this group as a powerful hub of expertise that we can share, and collaborate across the industry to ensure we continue to make a positive impact on communities around the world."
