Heston Leisure Centre

The new Heston Leisure Centre sits gently within the landscape of Heston Park.

The centre includes a 25m pool, learner pool, gym, dance studios and health spa. Our services included M&E and acoustic design, producing Employer's Requirements to procure a design and build contractor. We were also appointed to provide BREEAM and Soft Landings.

Our initial consideration was to focus on the the Leisure Centre's form, fabric and fixed installations to minimise its intrinsic energy consumption. We worked in close conjunction with Studio E from an early stage to influence the shape, form, orientation, glazing and internal layout of each building. Using outputs from building physics analysis software, this maximised the potential for good quality daylighting while minimising the effects of glare.

Heat recovery is used where possible, with air handling units specified with high efficiency heat exchangers wherever appropriate.

Heston Leisure Centre achieved a BREEAM Very Good rating.
