Mint Street Housing

Situated along a railway line in Bethnal Green, the Mint Street development provides 67 mixed-tenure homes.

The scheme is part of the Peabody Housing Project, one of London's leading social housing providers, who create a mixture of affordable rent, shared-ownership and private sale apartments.

Due to the passing train traffic it was important to create a buffer against the noise. Acoustic intrusion is alleviated significantly by the provision of mechanical ventilation and heat recovery units to all apartments.

'It makes a brutal space hospitable,' Rowan Moore - The Guardian

This design ensures purge ventilation during the summer to limit overheating in the bedrooms. The design meets the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
