Syon park hotel Heliquarium

Syon Park Hotel - Heliquarium

The Hilton Hotel in Syon Park, west London includes the Heliquarium, an enclosure that plays host to more than 1,000 butterflies.

The centre piece in the foyer of the luxury hotel, the Heliquarium harks back to the London Butterfuly House, once located in the Syon Park Estate.

The engineering challenge was to provide the high humidity the butterflies need in the foyer requiring much lower humidity levels.

The servicing of the heliquarium exhibit will be via its own dedicated plant-room. Another essential part of the design is the provision of specific lighting requirements to encourage healthy growth of native South American plants that the butterflies will feed on.

The Heliquarium pays homage to the London Butterfuly House that once stood on the Syon Park Estate.
