Virginia Water Visitor Centre

The Virginia Water Visitor Centre acts as a gateway to the lake on the Windsor Crown Estate.

It provides a sense of arrival and serves as a landmark to identity Virginia Water within the Royal Landscape.

Max Fordham was employed by the Crown Estates to apply a services design for the area. The cafe space has been designed to be entirely naturally ventilated while toilet areas take advantage of recovering heat through the mechanical ventilation system, reducing the building's energy  requirements.

Rain water is collected from the cantilevered roofs, stored below ground in a buried tank and pumped to cisterns when toilets are flushed.
