Cycle September: Max Fordham takes top spot!

For the second year running, we have placed first in the UK for workplaces of 200-499 staff in Cycle September! This is a worldwide initiative organised by Love to Ride that encourages everyone to cycle, whether it’s for fun, fitness or work.

Fifty-six colleagues from across all five of our offices cycled a collective 5,604 miles and earned 11,597 points. Points are awarded by distance and number of days cycled, and by encouraging others to sign up. A total of 5,349 workplaces and 25,582 people took part in this Cycle September in the UK, pedalling 3,728,776 miles and saving 398,053 lbs of CO2 - equivalent to taking 1,488 cars off the road!

Events this year included an office group cycle from our Bristol office, and the Palmer family’s cycle to fundraise for Motor Neurone Disease from Brighton to London – not to mention office commutes and weekend family cycles.

As well as aligning nicely with Max Fordham’s approach to sustainability, cycling often makes sense as the most practical way to get around our cities of Bristol, Cambridge, Edinburgh, London and Manchester. In the past, we have also taken part in Bike Week in June (including group cycle rides and Bike Information Breakfasts open to all) and Bike Month in May.

Max Fordham accesses the Cycle to Work scheme offering discounted bike and cycle equipment purchase to employees; bike loans are available to employees and partners; mileage expenses can be claimed when cycling for work; and we have cycle storage and shower facilities at all of our offices (with drying space where possible).
