Five nominations for the CIBSE Building Performance Awards!
28 December 2023
The CIBSE Building Performance Awards shortlist has been announced and we’re delighted to have five nominations!
The Building Performance Awards are the only awards programme to recognise the actual, measured performance of completed buildings. This year’s shortlist contains exemplar buildings both in the UK and overseas, showcasing the very best building performance across the globe.
Last year, Max Fordham took home three top prizes at the prestigious awards: Project of the Year, Consultancy of the Year, and Building Performance Champion.
Our shortlisted projects for 2024 are as follows:
Shortlisted categories: Project of the Year - Public Use
A landmark development in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent, the Catalyst Building at Staffordshire University has been designed to be low energy, low water use and have a low environmental impact, in line with the University’s net zero and one planet ambitions.
Shortlisted categories: Project of the Year - Leisure & Project of the Year - Retrofit
The overhaul of Manchester's eccentric Contact Theatre enhanced the efficiency of the building's original sustainable design features, such as its distinctive chimneys that made it the first naturally ventilated theatre in the UK.
Shortlisted categories: Project of the Year - Leisure & Project of the Year - Public UseThis ground-breaking sports centre for the University of Portsmouth sets a new benchmark for ultra-low energy sports facilities in the UK. The design is fossil fuel-free and has demonstrated an operational energy consumption of less than 100 kWh/m2/yr – a level of performance which no other equivalent sports centre in the UK has yet demonstrated.
Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on 29 February 2024 in London. The evening's highlight will be the crowning of the Building Performance Champion, selected from the 18 individual category winners. Good luck to all our fellow nominees!
