Michael has always been compelled to reduce our impact on the planet.

He’s delivered many ambitious low-energy, low-carbon projects, including the beautiful Trumpington Community College, cleverly designed to allow daylight deep into the building. Michael is experienced at delivering heat pumps and decarbonisation plans and has the skills and experience needed to overcome the kinds of technical challenges and constraints inherent in complex historic buildings and sites.

He is also involved in our Developing Countries work, extending our knowledge and experience to communities that would otherwise be unable to access our advice. Michael designed a photovoltaic system for the Oasis Centre in Guatemala, a residential centre providing support for girls rescued from domestic abuse.

Michael is an ultra-endurance runner and has participated in events across the world, including Kenya game conservancies, the salt-pans of Botswana, rural Nepal, and Rwanda.

“I see my role on projects as the environmental conscience – helping the design team to make the right decisions at the right time, so that what finally gets built has the smallest environmental footprint.”
