Bringing engineering expertise to community projects in places that need it most

For around 20 years, our International Outreach Group (formerly the Developing Countries Group) have been working on philanthropic projects in less economically developed countries around the world, providing specialist engineering expertise for local communities. These projects enable us to share our knowledge and experience with communities that need buildings and facilities that will help them to thrive, and provide a more secure future.

We often work on education and healthcare buildings, addressing fundamental needs such as water, sanitation, and shelter. Our contributions are generally provided pro bono, supported by funding from the practice and the donation of time from our people.

The group have delivered vital projects such as the expansion of Collège Hampaté Bâ in Niger and the sustainable refurbishment of Yangon Hospital in Myanmar. The work of the International Outreach Group is important to us as a practice because it enables us to support causes that we care deeply about. Our expertise across various disciplines – from MEP engineering to sustainability and wellbeing – means we can develop low-energy, low-carbon solutions in regions where challenging climates and remote locations often make this difficult.

If you'd like to discuss a potential international outreach project with us, please get in touch with Gwilym Still or Simon Lovell.
