Chansu Health Clinic Nchute Zambia

Chansu Health Clinic Nchute Zambia

Max Fordham collaborated with Build It International to assist with the design of a much needed maternity clinic in rural Zambia.

Build It worked with the local community in Nchute and the Ministry of Health for Chongwe District to build a health post, which has improved access to health services for over 2,500 people.

Max Fordham provided the design for an autonomous solar powered lighting installation. The work involved identifying locally available equipment and skills. We used our knowledge and experience of similar scenarios to ensure the systems were as simple, effective and low maintenance as possible.

The solar power system, which also has the facility to power small medical equipment, has been completed by a local solar specialist who corresponded directly with Max Fordham's engineers and the Build It International site architect. On the 10th of July 2013 Nchute Health Clinic’s first baby was born, the first day the clinic was open for business.
