Hero Bennett

Hero leads our Sustainability team and Net Zero strategy group, and has helped to set and deliver pioneering sustainability strategies on projects across a breadth of sectors. She is experienced in all leading certification schemes, materials and circular economy, as well as wellbeing and low carbon design, and strongly believes that knowledge should be freely shared within the whole industry to encourage better design and more sustainable outcomes. 

Hero began her career as a fuel cell development scientist, and moved into sustainability and engineering following a need to feel more connected to people and to create buildings with low environmental impact for happy lives. She demonstrates commitment to social and environmental agendas through her involvement with community engagement projects and public consultations, and through her contributions to the industry, such as development of the 'The Sustainability Matrix', published in Architect’s Journal, a communication tool which was adopted by the industry to help set a sustainability brief. 

Hero has judged many awards over the years and is a sustainability expert for the RIBA National Awards Group, sits on the ACE Climate Action Group and the Greater Cambridgeshire Design Review Panel. She is also a BREEAM Accredited Professional, Chartered Construction Manager and Chartered Environmentalist.
