A phased fit-out of a three-storey 4,100 sqm office in Soho has been awarded WELL Platinum certification, setting a new standard for health and eco-friendly design.
30 Broadwick Street has been recognised with the highest level of the standard, with a score of 91 out of a possible 100 points – far exceeding the threshold of 80 needed for Platinum level certification, becoming one of just 25 projects in the UK to achieve the feat.
The WELL Building Standard is the premier building standard to focus on enhancing people’s health and well-being through the buildings where we live, work and play. It is grounded in a body of evidence-based research that explores the connection between the buildings where we spend approximately 90% of our time, and the health and well-being impacts on the people inside these buildings.
To be awarded WELL Certification by the International WELL Being Institute the project underwent rigorous testing and a final evaluation by an approved WELL Performance Testing Agent, to ensure it met all WELL Certified Platinum performance requirements.
The IWBI recognised that staff wellbeing was at the heart of the people-centred project. It offers flexible office space that fosters community, collaboration and impact, with sustainability as a key driver and an embodied carbon target of less than 262kgCO2/m2. There was a strong focus on material reuse, with cradle-to-cradle certified natural materials made of recycled components.
