Project summary

We’ve been privileged to be involved in the Eddington Masterplan from 2016 from our Cambridge office. Eddington is an ambitious neighbourhood with environmental and social sustainability at the heart.

We were able to get into the detail of how embodied carbon impact can be a central consideration at the massing stage of a community masterplan framework, and were able to work with Hawkins\Brown and the University of Cambridge’s Behaviour and Building Performance department to research and integrate the latest thinking on wellbeing into the design.

Eddington will provide a total of 5,650 new homes for university staff, students, and the public, with up to 50% of the units being affordable housing for university key workers. The community will feature 50 hectares of green space, extensive community facilities, and 100,000 square meters of commercial and research space.

Over the years, we have worked as sustainability, energy, building physics, and acoustic consultants on the ambitious project, and with Hawkins/Brown leading the master planning.
