Iain Shaw

Iain has an instinct for figuring out how things work. He is passionate about the challenge of making existing buildings more energy-efficient, and the nitty gritty of mechanical engineering design and problem solving. His real skill is in communicating complex ideas to non-technical clients in a way that takes them on the journey of the project.

Iain is the Leader of our thriving Manchester office and has worked on some of the North West’s most loved and prestigious buildings. Liverpool Philharmonic Hall is a project close to his heart, as is the decarbonisation of the Power Hall at the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester – a place which inspired him to pursue a career in engineering. 

Iain helped to establish the Manchester office when it opened in 2012 and now leads its engineering team with a strong focus on teamworking and trust. His infectious optimism and love of innovation makes him a great teacher and mentor, and his knowledge and experience helps to create a bold team of engineers who never lose sight of the importance of practicality and creativity.
