Steve takes pride in delivering buildings that operate beautifully. Central to his approach is understanding what a client really needs from their building.
As an engineering group Director in our thriving Scotland office, he encourages engineers to apply rigour in critical thinking, ensuring they understand how to deliver designs that are robust, efficient and achievable.
Steve is an expert in historic refurbishment projects, with a special interest in theatres and museums. He led our team on the Grade A-listed National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh, a challenging project in terms of scale and complexity that sensitively restored the building to its original plan. It won the coveted RIAS Doolan Prize for the best building in Scotland in 2011 and remains one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions.
Steve has tutored final year Engineering students at the University of Edinburgh, and Architecture students at DJCAD in Dundee and the Edinburgh College of Art.
