Our 2025 greenhouse gas report - how did we do?

Open-plan office with central spiral staircase and exposed vaulted ceiling.

This Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Report builds on Max Fordham LLP’s long-standing commitment to sustainability. It is guided by our Sustainability Policy, implemented through our ISO 14001-certified Environmental Policy, and our commitments under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to reduce our operational emissions.

Background

The SBTi is a global climate organisation that helps companies and financial institutions set clear rules to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. We committed to the SBTi in April 2022, setting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions targets against our 2019 calendar year (CY2019) baseline.

Specifically to:

  • Reduce scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46% by CY2030, using CY2019 as our base year
  • Measure and reduce scope 3 emissions

This annual report covers emissions within the 2025 calendar period. Emissions have been calculated in-house by our Sustainability Group. To ensure transparency, we have had our data third-party verified in previous years, and will continue to seek third-party verification at regular intervals.

How did we do?

We're proud to report that we are ahead of our 2025 target, having achieved a 31% reduction in emissions compared to 2019.

Key drivers of this reduction have been a move to a new Manchester office, which is 100% electric, and the major refurbishment of our London office, which includes further improved fabric insulation measures and a transition away from gas-based heating systems.
